Pearson Education

In the summer of 2016 I interned for Pearson Education in Dubai where I gained a lot of perspective and insight into working for a multinational brand. In my time at Pearson, my day-to-day responsibilities included conducting social media reports in accordance with a social media revamp of the Middle East region, and assisting with contact migration from Spirit to Salesforce. Additionally, I had the opportunity to assist with the creation of a preliminary go-to-market strategy for a product launch in the Middle East region. In this time, I worked with a team spanning across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt to identify key influencers in our target market and develop an effective roll-out strategy.

Work Examples

Mypedia go-to-market strategy

Following the success of Pearson’s product “MyPedia” in the Indian market, the company decided to introduce it in the Middle East region due to the high volume of Indian schools. I was brought on to assist with developing the strategy to launch this product by identifying key influencers & stakeholders, target pilot schools, and drafting promotional activity schedules & costs. This resulted in me creating an initial proposal on a go-to-market strategy for MyPedia in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states (ex. UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain) to present to marketing leadership.

Salesforce migration

A daily responsibility I had was gathering contacts from Pearson’s current CRM database, Spirit, and prepping them for migration to Salesforce.com. This was a project that spanned the entirety of my internship and often required me to contact and connect with contacts to ensure the database was up-to-date. Ultimately, this project helped a lot with getting familiar with the Salesforce interface and maintaining relationships with contacts.
